Location. Built in 1933, the historic Georgian Hotel in Santa Monica, Calif., is known as a former celebrity hideaway during the days of early Hollywood. During prohibition, the Art Deco hotel housed a popular speakeasy and is now rumored to be haunted by certain unearthly guests. The hotel is opposite Palisades Park, across the street from Santa Monica Beach and two blocks from the famed Santa Monica Pier. Legendary shopping on Rodeo Drive is eight miles and Hollywood is 12 miles.
Hotel Features. The hotel features an oceanfront veranda for breakfasts and lunches. The lower-level Speakeasy Restaurant displays polished woods, red leather booths and velvet drapes, and was once the hangout of Bugsy Segal, Clark Gable, Carol Lombard and Fatty Arbuckle. The lobby bar serves imported beers, fine California wines and cocktails, along with the hotel's signature Art Deco martini, the Georgini. A fitness room is available 24 hours a day.

Guestrooms. Each of the 84 elegantly appointed guestrooms feature amenities such as bathrobes and Molton Brown toiletries. Minibars are provided. Clock radios have MP3 capabilities, and video game consoles and complimentary wireless Internet access are provided. Beds are dressed in goose-down feather comforters.

Expert Tip. Third Street Promenade, three blocks from the hotel, is one of L.A.'s most popular dining, entertainment and people-watching areas. This pedestrian-only stretch features numerous restaurants, cafés, nightspots, unique shops, bookstores and movie theaters.
