Location. The Aleksander House Bed & Breakfast is located in Louisville, Ky., in the Old Louisville National Historic Preservation District. The bed and breakfast is less than two miles from the Speed Art Museum, Kentucky's oldest and largest art museum, which features over 12,000 works of art spanning 6,000 years. Features. Built in 1882, this Victorian-style home features 14-foot ceilings, and the original hardwood floors, light fixtures, stained-glass windows and fireplaces. The bed and breakfast is surrounded by flower gardens and manicured lawns, and offers a back deck. Complimentary full breakfasts and children's breakfasts are served each morning in the dining room, which features French Toile wallpaper and prints of 19th-century Impressionist paintings. The inn's signature dish is Gran Marnier French Toast, made with thick slices of French bread soaked overnight in a custard of eggs, orange zest and Gran Marnier, baked in buttered pans, and served with orange butter, maple syrup and Kentucky country ham. Snacks and beverages are provided throughout the day. Lunch and dinner are available upon request for a fee. A computer station and complimentary wireless Internet access are available. The inn's large video library of over 350 videos includes kid-friendly videos.

Guestrooms. Two sweeping staircases lead to five guestrooms on the second and third floors of the Aleksander House Bed & Breakfast. The rooms are uniquely decorated with eclectic or period antique furnishings and oriental rugs. Beds are dressed with down comforters and high-quality linens. Complimentary wireless Internet access, cable television, DVD players and VCRs are provided. Select guestrooms feature private bathrooms. All rooms offer terry-cloth bathrobes.
