Location. Bliss Mansion Bed & Breakfast stands directly across from the Governor's Mansion in the historical home district of Carson City, Nev. Within one-quarter mile of the mansion are the Nevada State Museum, Brewery Arts Center, and two casinos. Lake Tahoe, offering skiing, water sports, casinos, and entertainment, is just a 22-mile drive. Spooner Lake 15 miles away has cross-country skiing, catch-and-release fishing and hiking.
Features. This mansion was originally built in 1879 by Duane L. Bliss, a Tahoe lumber and railroad tycoon. A total renovation and restoration was completed in 1994. The flavor of the home and its architectural details, including a walnut entry stairway and four Carrara marble fireplaces, remains intact. A full breakfast is served daily on a 15-foot handcrafted dining table in the mansion's formal dining room. Complimentary snacks and beverages are available throughout the day.

Guestrooms. Standard guestrooms at Bliss Mansion Bed & Breakfast have fireplaces and individually controlled heat and air conditioning. Wrought iron, mahogany or oak beds endowed with premium bed linens are featured in all guestrooms. Hand-made herbal hand soaps, plush towels, and bathrobes are available in the private bathrooms, which are equipped with antique claw foot tubs or showers. Rooms are often complemented by fresh flowers.

Expert Tip. Bliss Mansion Bed & Breakfast is located on the Kit Carson Trail, a walking path marked by a painted blue line and bronze medallions along the sidewalk. The trail stops at various landmarks, including 1800s-era Victorian-style homes, museums and churches.
